Introducing Sofiona Designs, and My First Pattern Test!

I recently took a plunge by applying to be a pattern tester for Sofiona Designs, and I was elated when they accepted me! I'm so glad I applied, because they have been amazing to work with.

Sherri and Trish are best friends living in beautiful northern Canada. Together they have built this new pattern company that focuses on patterns for girls sizes 2-14. They are fun, kind, generous (they are donating 10% of all their pattern sales to a non-profit called A21 that focuses on freeing people trapped in modern-day slavery), and have put so much time and effort into all their work. The designs I have seen are fun and stylish, with unique details and options that both little girls and pre-teens love. If you want to see their other patterns, check out the Sofiona Designs Fan Group on Facebook to be the first to know when they open, and get in on the giveaways!

They're having some amazing giveaways to celebrate their company launch, and all their patterns will also be on sale for 30% off until November 25. Even more exciting, the first 50 purchases get an additional 5% off!

Each of their patterns is named after the Canadian north, and the pattern I tested is called the Arctic Fox Housecoat. I consider myself an "advanced beginner," but the detailed instructions and beautiful finishing techniques made me feel like a pro! I had never made bound seams, hanging loops, or piping before, but they made it so easily understandable that it wasn't scary at all.

This housecoat, or "robe," as I call it, is so comfortable and keeps my little girl toasty and warm.

I made it with an anti-pill fleece from Joann's during their huge fleece sale, and the colorful woven fabric for the piping and seam binding is from a local fabric shop.

I love clean lines on projects. Since I used a solid fleece, they really stand out.

The little fox ears on the top of the hood are so cute, and I love the added piping that ties it all together.

This collection has four patterns in it, and I'm excited to sew them, too. Here are what some of the other testers made!

Testing for Sofiona Designs has been so much fun, and I'm excited to see what they'll come up with next. I hope you have a lovely day, and thanks so much for stopping by!
